Winner of the 1996 IMTA 'Best Map' award, the map outlines all sealed and unsealed roads, four-wheel drive tracks and roads requiring permit access. Camping sites, accommodation, fuel supplies, emergency services and local attractions are all marked and National Park and Aboriginal land boundaries are clearly outlined. Including inset maps of Uluru, Kata Tjuta, and Alice Springs along with lots of spectacular photographs, the map also contains information on road conditions and best times to travel to Australia's most popular outback destination.
Southern part of Northern Territory, with the MacDonnell Ranges and the route from Alice Springs to Uluru/Ayers Rock. The map shows roads and 4WD tracks, indicating accommodation, general stores and meal facilities, fuel supplies, places of interest, etc. Topography is shown by subtle relief shading and names of mountain ranges and selected peaks. National parks and Aboriginal lands are highlighted. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at 30' intervals with ticks at 5’ and GPS waypoints are given for selected places. On the reverse there is a street plan Alice Springs, with accommodation facilities and main places of interest, an enlargement of the immediate environs of the town, plus maps of the of Yulara tourist village, access from there to Uluru and Kata Tjuta, and walking tracks around the rocks. Also included are descriptions of places of interest throughout the area and a table showing tourist facilities in national parks and reserves.
